Possibility Space is seeking a UX Systems Engineer to work alongside our design, art and engineering departments to build a great user experience for our new game. You will work across our talented and supportive team to build out a UX design system and UI/UX component library that will make it quick and easy for Possibility Space developers to build well-functioning interfaces easily, and comprehensively address player needs like supporting different control schemes, providing accessibility functionality, and robust localization.

Reporting to the Systems Engineering Director, this role collaborates with disciplines across the entire project through all stages of development. 
 
Core Responsibilities & Objectives 

  • Work as part of cross-functional teams to support the design and implementation of UX systems and interface features. 
  • Enable new capabilities by writing high-performance, scalable, and reusable code across both the development pipeline and game runtime. 
  • Profile and optimize systems to remove bottlenecks and improve performance. 
  • Help establish development standards and best practices for UI/UX engineering across the entire project. 

Core Traits (Skills, Knowledge, Experience) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Proficient with UI development in a commercial game engine or desktop tooling pipeline. 
  • Solid analytical problem-solving and debugging skills. 
  • Able to write readable, maintainable code with an eye toward debuggability and extensibility. 
  • Empathetic and supportive collaboration across many disciplines. 
  • Excellent spoken and written communication. 

Bonus Traits 

  • Proficient with C#. 
  • Experience developing with Unity. 
  • Experience with UI Toolkit. 
  • Experience developing for a live, service-based game. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Close vision to monitors and screens, consistently working on computer equipment such as keyboards and monitors, long periods of sitting.
